Amazing. As a small business owner, I read the book “Zero to One” by Peter Thiel about entrepreneurship. One most important point was to differentiate yourself from your competition. What is it about your business that makes you stand out?
It takes some time before you can truly understand what makes you different than others. It might be your product or service that is unique.
Perhaps it’s your customer service and attention to detail.
In the book, it states that you have to be almost 10X better than your competition in order to truly stand out.
One of the challenges that a small business owner will have is to stick with your product or service until your audience sees what you have to offer. It is, however, also up to the owner to see objectively whether there is a true need for that item, that product, that service.
Studying what others do successfully and unsuccessfully helps you to know what to do next. You don’t have to be the one to make the mistake to learn from it.
The book also goes into not only having a superior product but also to have a true marketing plan that helps the build your audience base. Knowing who would want your product and consciously choosing that group is what makes a business successful.
Learning from others always helps in your own process of getting to know what you do best and how you can stand out from the rest. Whatever works as part of your learning process to get your business to a better place is what makes sense.
